It’s Pure Natural Brown hair dye is entirely natural and the final result depends on your initial hair colour, so will be unique to you.
As a guide, you can expect the following:
If you have... |
The likely result is… |
White or very light blonde |
Warm dark blonde – warm light brown |
Dark blonde |
Warm light brown |
Light brown |
Warm light to medium brown |
Salt-and-pepper mix of white and light brown hair |
The white hair goes light brown, and the light brown hair a slightly darker brown |
To check the colour, we recommend you strand test a small section of your hair before applying to your entire head. Order the small 10g sample size to try it out and do a strand test and patch test.
A few other things to bear in mind:
It's Pure Natural Brown shade is lighter than the Dark Brown and is also a warmer colour.
You can achieve a darker colour result with repeated applications. If your hair is very light coloured to start with it is also possible that the colour outcome may be warmer (i.e. slightly more auburn).
The colour is also affected by how long you leave the paste on. If you leave the paste on for 1 hour it will be a lot lighter than if you leave it on for 3 hours. It also tends be a warmer colour when it is left on for a shorter time and a cooler and darker brown when it is left on for a longer time.
When you first wash out the colour it will often not be the full depth of colour, but it will gradually deepen to its true colour. So, it is best to wait 24 hours after you have done the strand test to see how the colour develops.
If your hair has been chemically lightened it will affect the colour result. - Chemical lighteners make your hair more porous and thus absorb the colour less predictably.
There may be slight variations in colour result between different batches of Herbal Hair Colour. - The botanical ingredients can be affected by varying climatic conditions from year to year.

I have used used henna for many years, and once I found Pure I stuck to it. Excellent quality and easier to apply than other types of henna. I also tried other products that I have been purchasing on repeat including the Amla and Bhirngaraj.
It was ok, however I don't thing I would buy it again, as it doesn't take grey very well. I don't have lots of grey; however, not great coverage. It should come with a brush or a bottle you can shake the liquid in, once mixed with the powder especially as it's more expensive than the normal. (The mess of me standing in the bath scooping it out with my hand, from a jug). It was great it didn't sting my scalp compared to the normal dyes on the market, so that was good. My hair wasn't as shiny as the normal stinging dyes.
Hello Gina
Thank you so much for your review.
I'm sorry to hear you didn't get the coverage you were hoping for; the Natural Brown can be quite light, especially on the first application on grey/white hairs. Sometimes it can be more blonde than brown, and needs a second application to build up the colour.
If you have especially tricky greys, or your hair is quite light, using the Dark Brown might work better for you, as it can be more of a light - medium brown on very light, or grey hairs. Henna dyes work like a coat of paint so the hair underneath still shows through to some extent.
Unfortunately we don't provide a bottle - the paste itself should be thick but also easy to scoop and apply - similar to a greek yoghurt type texture. If it was in a bottle it wouldn't be able to squeeze out in the right way. If the dye is runny it won't stick to the hair, and so the henna won't bond, which will mean you don't get any real colour.
Applicator brushes are sold separately on our site.
We would recommend instead using a larger mixing bowl (but this must be plastic or wooden, never metal) as it is easier to scoop the dye from this.
With Kindest Regards
Rebecca
I recently tried this hair colour and I’m really impressed! I’ve been feeling really down about my grey hair lately, but using this hair colour has made such a difference — I feel so much more confident in myself and how I look. The final result looks totally natural and blends beautifully with all the tones in my hair — it doesn’t look flat or fake at all. Over a week later, the colour is still developing in a really nice way, adding more depth and richness as time goes on.
Just a heads-up: the application can get a little messy, and it is a tad green while it’s developing — but don’t panic! If you plan to get on with something else while it works its magic, it’s really no hassle. Definitely worth it for the end result.
I bought the lightest blonde and the natural brown to see which was going to work the best. I chose henna (and associated herbs) because they are natural and because it calms down the grey hair fizzle and turns it back to that anglo saxon blonde with an undertone of red which too many people call mouse.
So with these two I started with the palest one and it covered the grey, brought some summer highlights and smoothed that fizzle.
About a year ago, I started using non-permanent box dyes to cover those little pesky greys that had just begun to appear. I naturally had really nice hair and never felt the need to dye it before then.
Unfortunately, the box dyes really affected the quality of my hair, and I hated how toxic they are for the environment. So I started looking for a more natural option. I was a bit hesitant to try henna-based dyes because of how they can react with previously chemically colored hair—but after doing some research, I decided to take the plunge with It's Pure, and I’m so glad I did!
I waited a full month after my last box dye, did a strand test (my hair didn’t turn green 😀), then used the Clarifying Pre-Colour Treatment and applied the mix as instructed. Yes, it takes time and can get a little messy, but it’s absolutely worth it. My hair already feels and looks so much healthier!
I’ll be experimenting with application times and shades to find the right tone and coverage, but so far, so good! And it feels amazing knowing that any excess product won’t harm the environment. Needless to say, I’ve officially ditched the box dyes!
