Description Review

It’s Pure Indigo Black hair dye is entirely natural and the final result depends on your initial hair colour.

As a guide, you can expect the following:

If you have...	The likely result is…
Grey, white or light blonde	DO NOT USE - You must either mix it with a red (henna) based colour, or dye your hair first with a brown or red shade.
Light Brown	Medium-dark brown
Medium brown	Dark brown - black
Dark brown	Darker brown - black

To check the colour, we recommend you strand test a small section of your hair before applying to your entire head. Order the small 10g sample size to try it out and do a strand test and patch test.

A few other things to bear in mind:

Leaving the paste on for a longer time will make the colour stronger. If you want a deeper colour, you can also build up the colour with a second application.

The true colour takes a few hours to develop. When you first wash out the dye it will often not be the full depth of colour, but it will gradually darken to its true colour. Like a cut apple - at first the apple is white and then as it oxidises in the air it goes brown.

If your hair has been chemically lightened it will affect the colour result. - Chemical lighteners make your hair more porous and thus absorb the colour less predictably.

It is not recommended to use chemical bleach after using this dye unless it has faded or grown out. This is because bleach will not remove indigo so you may be left with a bluish colour.

I bought this Hair Dye as it was Herbal and 💯 percent Organic, but Unfortunately when I received it and read what was written on the box it said Not Suitable to cover Grey Hairs I was fuming as my hair is Black and I get Grey hairs on the Top and front. I couldn’t return it as it Contained Ammonia. So I had to Bin it.

Thank you for your review; I am sorry you did not like the dye.

We do make sure on the product page to mention in the description the dye is not suitable for use directly on grey hairs; this is because it is pure Indigo leaf powder, which if used directly on grey hairs can go a blue/green tone.

For that reason we advise following a two-step process to get a black shade on greys - using either pure Henna, Chestnut or Dark Brown first to get a good warm colour on your greys, and then following up with an application of Indigo Black to get a strong black shade.

The dye does not contain ammonia - in the picture it shows 'No PPD, No Ammonia'.

Our dyes only contain organic plant leaf powders, with no added toxic chemical ingredients, and are certified by the Soil Association. I do apologise if there was any confusion.

This product is life changing if you’re allergic to chemicals in regular hair dye but don’t want to go au natural. Perfect.

Totally pointless.

I was very disappointed but this product. Both the test strand and full box of dye I bought washed out completely after 2-3 washes. I followed all the instructions very carefully and it still didn't work. Don't waste your money!

The best product to exist!

This product has truly changed my hair and honestly. I’ve used hair dyes for years, and although some gave short-term results, they always left my scalp dry and my hair depleted.
