Our Amla is for external use only.
Using Amla on Your Hair
Mix the amla powder with warm water into a paste the consistency of yoghurt. Let it sit for 30 minutes. If you wish you may mix amla with other conditioning herbs, oils, or henna. Apply the Amla paste to your hair in the same way that henna is applied
The Benefits for Your Skin:
Amla powder has anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, and astringent properties. It makes a very good exfoliating, toning facial scrub or facial mask. The very high level of vitamin C in the amla powder helps to break up the dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling smooth, toned and healthy.
Amla (Emblica Officinalis), also known as “Amalaki"or "Indian Gooseberry".
I love this amla powder, I add it to my henna. It adds ashy tones and makes my hair bouncy and fabulous!
I've used this twice since buying and have no previous experience with Amla or any other ayurvedic hair powders, so have nothing to compare to.
The powder has a pleasant sweetish smell. The first time I used it I mixed it with shikakai and used it as a shampoo. I didn't notice it being in noticeably better condition after but it did feel clean! The second time I used the amla, I just used it on its own. I left it on for about 20 minutes. I'm not sure if it was the products I used after or not but I've been very happy with my hair for the last 2 days following that wash! The wave is more pronounced and less frizzy. I also feel like it's blended my greys a bit?
I'm looking forward to using this more. I do wish the packet was bigger, I think this will only last maybe 4 treatments (I have very thick shoulder length hair).
Oh here's a tip if you're new to it - don't breathe in while pouring the powder because it is so fine it goes into the air and gets in your throat!
Usually with conditioners they work fast, softening the hair and giving it shine. I haven't noticed anything different with this product. Perhaps it is a slow process and need to wait after a few uses to see the difference. There isn't much in the packet for the price. I had to use it sparingly, also mixed it with seaweed extract. Seaweed is already quite potent so can't tell what is doing what. Overall, I am happy with my hairs volume and texture.
Using it to mix with henna, so far so good.
I just add 1/2 tsp of amla and 1/2 tsp of shikakai to my conditioner, apply to my hair and keep under cap while showering and get great results, hair getting better and better with every application
