It’s Pure Golden Blonde hair dye is entirely natural and the final result depends on the existing colour of your hair, so will be unique to you.
As a guide, you can expect the following:
If you have... |
The likely result is… |
---|---|
White or grey hair |
Light golden blonde tint |
Light – dark blonde hair |
Warm golden blonde |
Salt & pepper mix of brown & white hair |
Mix of brown & light blonde highlights |
To check the colour, we recommend you strand test a small section of your hair before applying to your entire head.
A few other things to bear in mind:
It’s Pure dyes contain no peroxide, so will not lighten your hair.
If your hair has been chemically lightened, it will affect the colour result. - Chemical lighteners make your hair more porous and thus absorb the colour less predictably.
To avoid a build-up of colour from repeated applications you can apply the paste just to the roots and not all over your hair. Alternatively apply the paste first to your roots leaving it on for some time before applying the paste to the ends of your hair - so effectively the paste is on the roots for a longer time.
Mixing shades together: It’s fine to mix different shades of It’s Pure Organics Herbal Hair Colours together, to get your own unique shade.
There may be slight variations in colour result between different batches of Herbal Hair Colour. - The botanical ingredients can be affected by varying climatic conditions from year to year.

I’ve got a pure white flash all around my face and the rest salt and pepper stuff being terribly allergic to PCB’s in hair dye I ordered a sample of the golden blonde. It’s made a lovely light almost Nordic blonde which looks like highlights. I’m definitely ordering the full size .
I have used the It's Pure Golden Blonde for nearly a year and it has become much easier to use. It's definitely worth persevering with the application and timing! I feel so comfortable that there are no chemicals. Really so pleased with it.
I used this henna based product, the blonde colour, on my grey hair. The strand test wasn’t that effective despite having left it on for two hours, but I decided to go ahead with the full treatment anyway. This time I left it on for three hours and it was very successful. I will definitely used again. I have short hair, so I can get two treatments which makes it quite economical.
I didn’t think this would take on my uncoloured, untreated dark blonde hair which now has a lot more more grey and white hairs as I had tried red henna years ago and it didn’t take and washed out over the follow week or so ruining my towels. Frankly it put me off for a long while. But this was a different experience.
This actually worked, my hair now has golden blonde highlights, a few of my bright white hairs didn’t take as well as the rest but I’ve read elsewhere that now I’ve done the henna treatment they will take better next time as the henna has something to hold on to.
So here’s my method; I applied it on clean dry hair (I didn’t use conditioner’). I mixed up the henna with filtered tap water (using osmosis filter, I think distilled water is most similar), I used a thermometer to ensure the correct temperature and then put the made up henna in a ziplock bag then snipped off a corner, I used this ‘piping bag’ method for the top and sides and applied the rest in handfuls for the bottom. I sort of massaged it in a bit to try to coat everything then I wiped off the excess on my neck and hairline with a wet face cloth.
I piled up my hair and used plastic clips then covered my hair with a cap and left the henna on for 1 hour and 30 minutes. It was white warm that evening so I think this also helped, if I do this in winter I will use a foil shower cap.
I rinsed it out really thoroughly without using shampoo or conditioner. After towel drying I applied about 1/2 tsp of the pure argon oil all over and combed it thru, after drying I was impressed how soft my hair felt.
Here’s the thing, initially I could still see loads of white and grey hairs and I thought it hadn’t worked. But I held off washing my hair two days which I found hard because of the hay like smell and those strands magically changed to pale golden blonde and blended in!
People have said my hair looks brighter since using the golden blonde henna and it does seem to have made it lighter, perhaps it’s just where it’s now so much more shiny? There’s not much in the way of ‘red’ other than the hint that is already in my hair which I’m relieved about.
I also noticed my hair feels better, slightly thicker and smoother.
I was worried about making a mess and staining my towels as I had with henna in the past but this was so different. The texture seemed better to apply, too.
10/10 will buy again and fully expecting even better results on the few remaining white hairs, it blended in perfectly with my hair colour, so it’s basically my hair but better!
Thanks so much for sharing your brilliant method. It looks great. The 'piping bag' is a great idea. We're so glad you are happy with the results.
Used golden blond- left it on for two hours - looks great- really pleased. No scalp irritation or nasty smells. Definitely will use this again.
