To check the colour, we recommend you strand test a small section of your hair before applying to your entire head. Order the small 10g sample size to try it out and do a strand test and patch test.
A few other things to bear in mind:
- Repeated applications will help build up a darker shade.
- The colour will deepen over a few hours and days as it oxidises on your hair.
- On very light-coloured or light grey hair it sometimes appears to have a green tinge at first, but don’t panic - this will fade gradually over a few hours or days, as the dye oxidises and the colour deepens.
- If your hair has been chemically lightened, it will affect the colour result. - Chemical lighteners make your hair more porous and thus absorb the colour less predictably.
- It is not recommended to use chemical bleach on your hair after using this dye, unless it has faded or grown out. This is because bleach will not remove the indigo element of the dye, so you may possibly be left with a bluish colour. If you do want to try bleaching, please strand test first.
- There may be slight variations in colour result between different batches of Herbal Hair Colour. - The botanical ingredients can be affected by varying climatic conditions from harvest to harvest.

I use the very dark brown on my greying hair and within 90-180mins (the results were largely the same) my hair turned a rich dark brown. For a couple of days there's sometimes a slight green or purple tinge, in some lights, but the colour always settles and darkens. I've got short hair and one sache does two uses for me, which makes a box very good value (4 uses per box for SHORT hair). The main thing I've never reconciled with is the smell. The earthy smell that lingers for at least a week after dying, and I can smell on my towels is awful. It's such an embarassing smell. The advice I was given by Pure was "You can add a few drops of essential oil to help mask the earthy smell", so I'll try that.

It's true the smell of Henna is very 'earthy' - this is because there's no fragrance or perfrume added, it is just the pure Henna powder. As advised, some essential oils, like Ylang Ylang, Mint, or Lavender, can be really helpful in 'masking' the smell.
You might also find that using a conditioner when rinsing, like the Logona Colour Fix Conditioner, helps afterwards as this has some fragrance and essential oils in and will aid longevity of the colour.

I used to dye my hair all the time when I was younger and then our if nowhere became severely allergic. I actually had to have all my hair shaved off one time. Since then I have been doing testers every 6 months or so. Sometimes ending up with swollen arms. I really appreciated that this place gives you the option of buying a testers pack.
Gor the first time in about 15 years ive found one im not allergic to and covers most of my greys. Im over the moon!

I’ve been looking for a hair dye that doesn’t give me a reaction for 10 years and I’ve only just found this and it’s worked! No reaction and covered my grey hair. With a £1 tester which is perfect as I’ve been spending £10+ just to test and fail! I’ve tried other “natural dyes” and come out with worse reactions than hairdressers testers and box dyes but this product is amazing! My hairdresser couldn’t believe it worked! And I am a very happy girl that I can cover my greys at last!

I was at wits end when I discovered that my hair dye started having a nasty reaction on my scalp tried another one and that was the same had a rash which itched and itched was unbearable then I was recommended to Pure my saviour it is a great colour I use VERY DARK. BROWN you do have to leave it on for a longer time I leave it for 3 hours lovely result clean and shiny will always use Pure and recommend it to anyone all natural no ammonia try it you will love it x

I had suddenly become allergic to my hair dye which I have used for many years really bad reaction which took 5 weeks to heal I was told that I had to embrace the grey then a friend told me to try Pure I was nervous but fantastic easy to use because I have short hair it goes a long way I will recommend it to anyone and will definitely be ordering more thank you x
